The CE marking symbol (the letters "CE") indicates that a product complies with all applicable European legislation and obliges Member States to presume that the product does comply, that it has the performance values declared for it by the manufacturer and, therefore, that they are expected to allow it access to their markets without any further action.
A whole series of issues related to the process of obtaining the CE marking can exist, however:
· is there a harmonised European Technical Specification (European product standard or European Technical Approval) to which the product can comply?
· what happens if there is a specification but the product cannot comply with it?
· what are the requirements for Evaluation and Attestation of Conformity?
· what happens if, as a manufacturer, you have done everything necessary to obtain the CE marking but your product still requires further evaluation before it is allowed onto the market in one or more Member States?
If you are a manufacturer with questions related to any aspect of the CE marking process, APSR Associates can help you answer these questions. We will also provide general or product-specific seminars and presentation related to the concepts and consequences of the Construction Products Directive and CE marking.
