The Scope of harmonised European Standards and European Technical Approval Guidelines are supposed to be clear about what they cover and, equally, what they do not cover. If products are not included in the Scope, they cannot claim compliance and cannot, therefore, benefit from the CE marking.
The manufacturer could be in a position where:
· his products are described in the Scope but he is unable to demonstrate conformity with the standard or ETAG,
· the particular test method described is unusable for some products,
· the standard has been written for series production and is unsuitable for individual production,
· the standard could have been written inadvertently with a particular type of product in mind.
If your product is excluded from a standard or ETAG for any reason, APSR Associates can help overcome this through our Consultancy, Advocacy and/or Representation Services. |
